Jonathan Kellerman
“I have a warped mind.”
- Jonathan Kellerman
(from an e-mail)
The succinct reply comes from Jonathan Kellerman, a former clinical psychologist and author of the bestselling Alex Delaware series.
He started writing when he was nine and at 22, won the Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award for fiction. It was only after 14 long and frustrating years of rejection from publishers, Kellerman’s first Alex Delaware novel, When the Bough Breaks, was finally picked up and won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel in 1986.
Another two books later and Kellerman decided to leave his full-time position as a psychologist and take up the calling as a full-time writer.
To further cement the fact that writing will forever be etched on Kellerman’s life, he’s married to fellow author, Faye Kellerman and his eldest son, Jesse Kellerman, is also an accomplished playwright and author.
